What is Christmas?
Lyrics

What Is Christmas?

What is Christmas? Can you tell me?
Is it found beneath the tree?
Who is Jesus? Baby Jesus
What has He to do with me?

Why did He leave all His glory?
Why would He forsake His throne?
Why was He born in a stable?
In a stable all alone.

What is Christmas? Can you tell me?
Is it found in days of old?
What’s a manger? What’s a Savior?
What’s the “glory of the lord”?

Why the angel? Why the bright star?
On the spire of our tree?
Now I’m ready. I will listen
Tell the story now to me…

What is Christmas? Let me tell you.
It’s the gift of God to man.
It’s the birth of baby Jesus
Son of God and son of man.

In the stillness lay the whole world
Unaware of hidden joy
In a stable ‘neath a bright star
Cried a tiny baby boy

[LUKE 2: 8-14]

This is Christmas. Please remember
It’s the gift of God to man
He left heaven and all His glory
So that we might live again

This is my wish on this Christmas
That His peace you’ll find today
So have a very Merry Christmas
And a blessed year I pray

Hard to Remember

Though it’s not cold down here still I feel cold inside
When I see the world today
Though there’s no snow on the ground still I’m chilled to the bone
To watch your people slipping away

To watch the freedom that men died for being trampled on the ground
As the legacy of truth we share gets buried underground
Still I know Your light will shine once again
In this world without end. Amen

And it’s getting hard to remember, hard to remember
The reason we came to this land
Yes it’s getting hard to remember, hard to remember
As we move further from our Father’s loving hand

So on this Christmas Eve let us pray for our land
That our Lord will show Hid grace to man
And on this Christmas Eve peace will reign in our hearts
In this world without end. Amen.
In this world without end. Amen.

Emanuel

If the Lord came back on Christmas day, would He find our hearts were far away
From Him and everything that He holds dear
Is there so much underneath the tree, that our Lord would barely see
The manger and the Child that died for you and me

Do we still get down upon our knees like the shepherds did that Christmas Eve
To praise the Lord our Savior and our King
Are we so busy with our own lives that we don’t take the time to thank You
For all the good gifts that You bring

Forgive us Lord, we are not worthy
Forgive us Lord, and hear our cry

Emanuel, oh how You’re heart must grieve, Emanuel, world’s forsaken Thee
Please fill our hearts with peace and joy I pray
Please fill our hearts, this Christmas day

So maybe this year when we open up the gifts from those we love
We can think about the greatest gift that came from heaven above
And give that gift to others in a world that is so lost
The gift that Jesus paid for with His life upon the cross

I thank You Lord, for You are worthy
I thank You Lord, You are my King

Emanuel, oh how Your heart must grieve, Emanuel, world’s forsaken Thee
Please fill our hearts with peace and joy I pray
Please fill our hearts, this Christmas day

Emanuel, You came that we night live, Emanuel, there’s no gift we can give
You gave it all, remember us I pray
Emanuel, this Christmas day
